Singer Andrea Bocelli, one of the best-known Italians in the world, has publicly thanked his mother for not aborting him.

In a YouTube video posted by an American pro-life group, Bocelli was playing the piano in a charity performance for Haiti. He told the story about how a young pregnant woman went into the hospital with appendicitis.

Bocelli said doctors put ice on her stomach, and later suggested she have an abortion, since they believed the baby would be born with some disability.

“But the young brave wife decided not to abort, and the child was born,” the singer recounted, sitting at the piano. “That woman was my mother, and I was the child.”

Bocelli, who has sold more than 70 million records, was born partially blind, with congenital glaucoma. When he was still a boy he lost his sight completely.

“Maybe I’m partisan, but I can say that it was the right choice,” the singer said. “I hope this could encourage any mothers who sometimes find themselves in difficult situations, in those moments when life is complicated, but want to save the life of their baby.”

Despite the strong influence of the Catholic Church in Italy, there’s very little debate about abortion in the country, and it’s hardly even an issue in political campaigns.

Bocelli was born in 1958, and abortion was not legalized in Italy until 20 years later, leading some Italian bloggers today to charge that the singer was making the story up.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a controversial bill that seeks to crack down on illegal immigration.

The sweeping measure will make it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It will also require local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.

It takes effect 90 days after the current legislative sessions end in the next several weeks.

Before signing the bill, Brewer called the measure "another step forward in protecting the state of Arizona."

She said the bill "represents another tool for our state to use as we work to solve a crisis that we did not create and the federal government has refused to fix -- the crisis caused by illegal immigration."

Earlier, President Obama called the bill "misguided" and said it could violate people's civil rights. He said he's instructed the Justice Department to see if it is legal.

The bill's Republican sponsor, state Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, said Obama and other critics of the bill were "against law enforcement, our citizens and the rule of law."

Civil rights activists have said the bill would lead to racial profiling and deter Hispanics from reporting crimes.

Brewer said she wouldn't tolerate racial profiling.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at the State Capitol complex Friday calling on Brewer to veto the legislation.

Demonstrators have been camped outside the Capitol since the measure passed out of the Legislature on Monday. Their numbers have grown steadily throughout the week, with buses bringing protesters from as far away as Los Angeles.

About a dozen supporters of the measure also gathered.

I swear, news about the destruction of free enterprise in this country is coming so quickly and so often that I worry people are going to miss some of what’s happening.

I would like to say I can’t believe Obama’s latest power-grab, but of course I can believe it. It’s to be expected at this point.

Now that he’s got his claws in healthcare and we’ll all soon be waiting in lines and hoping that Kathleen Sebelius decides we’re worthy of medical treatments under the single-payer system, Obama has his sights set on internships.

Say whaaaa?

Yes. Obama is going to prohibit private for-profit companies from having unpaid internship programs. Nancy Leppink, the acting director for the DOL’s wage and hour division said, “If you’re a for-profit employer or you want to pursue an internship with a for-profit employer, there aren’t going to be many circumstances where you can have an internship and not be paid and still be in compliance with the law.”

Isn’t that brilliant? Even though school age kids are facing a 26% unemployment rate, Obama is basically telling them they’re not ALLOWED to volunteer their time in private industry in order to gain job skills which could help them compete in the employment market after graduation. And obviously, if companies are required to pay interns, then they’re going to have FEWER INTERNSHIP POSITIONS, which will drive that unemployment figure even higher. I would say that this is one of the dumbest things Obama has ever done, but that list is so long now I’m honestly not sure it would even fit.

But here’s the kicker. If you want an unpaid internship at Organizing for America or at the White House? That’s totally cool. It’s only if you want an unpaid internship at a company which actually produces goods and/or services in the free market – then you’re SOL.

If you needed any more evidence that Obama is soundly opposed to the USA’s free market system, then you’re just not opening your eyes. The proof is everywhere. And, according to this, there’s another advantage for Obama to say “internships for me but not for thee.” What he’s doing will “have a disproportionate impact against students who are not left-wing ideologues as most of those students intend on going into left-wing non-profit advocacy and the government anyway. It’s the independent and conservative students who just want to get the skills and connections to make an honest living in the free market who are going to get screwed.”

Unbelievable.

□ 1 med. sized hippo
□ 1 ton salt
□ Pepper to taste
□ 500 bushels potatoes
□ 1000 gals. brown gravy
□ 200 bushels carrots
□ 400 sprigs parsley
□ 2 sm. rabbits (optional)

Cut hippo meat into bite sized pieces. This will take about 2 months. Cut vegetables into cubes (another 2 months). Place meat into large pan and cover with gravy. Simmer for 4 weeks. Shovel in salt and pepper to taste. When meat is tender, add vegetables. A steam shovel is useful for this. Simmer slowly for 4 more weeks. Garnish with parsley.

Will serve 2, 700 people. If more are expected, add 2 small rabbits - this is not recommended as very few people like hare in their stew.

The month of October 2009 has been the deadliest month of fighting in the middle east since the start of the war almost 8 years ago. Although great strides have been made in Iraq, Afghanistan is a completely different story.

The current administration has failed to lead on every front, both domestically and especially militarily, Gen McCrystal, Dear Leader's choice to lead in the Afghan theater, requests have gone largely ignored by Dear Leader as he has been flitting around the globe accomplishing nothing. Gen McCrystal has requested 40,000 more troops asap, this was more than 2 months ago, Dear Leader is thinking about it... This is a first for him, we have passed legislation without reading the bills because of made-up crisis and now that a real crisis is presented he is again voting present and failing to take a stand and made a decision, meanwhile our brave men and women are in harm's way and the lack of personnel on the ground only makes it that much more dangerous.

Alan Grayson (d) Florida says that 44,000 (.018%) people a year die because they don't have health insurance. That sounds better to me, there were a total of 2,426,264 deaths in America last year. So having insurance seems to be the cause of death for 2,382,264 (.981%) if we follow Grayson's illogical comments, seems that the much more lethal option is to pay for health insurance.

The way the government views things for much of my life have perplexed me to say the least and infuriated me more than not. This opinion has only solidified under this current congress and administration.

Let's consider insurance, we all have lots of insurance policies to consider, we have renters or home owners insurance, car insurance and most of us have some form of health insurance. If you have bought extended warranties of appliances, cars or a home warranty, these too are types of insurance.

Now let's look at the way we use these insurance policies;

If we have home owners insurance, we only use it if we have a robbery, injury to a visitor, or catastrophic incident like a fire. We do not use this insurance to replace the garbage disposal or paint the house or even to get the house inspected to make sure everything is working okay.

If we have car insurance is is also for catastrophic incidents, accidents, fires and theft. We don't use or mandatory car insurance on oil changes, tires or car washes.

So now let's see what we have in health insurance, certainly a different attitude about it and our physical health is more important than our houses or our cars. There are many levels of health insurance, there is catastrophic policy, it only covers large expenditures like surgery and major health incidents, (heart attacks, cancer, etc) there are also the typical plan that cover your doctors visits and medications and catastrophic incidents. These plans usually have a co-pays. The next plan is what our government officials and many unions have, they are the "Cadillac Plans" these are expensive full coverage plans, no deductibles and include eye care, dental and are the most expensive. The beauty of this is YOU get to decide what you need and how much you want to budget for your needs and abilities.

So my observation is this; The health care reform being designed and bartered behind closed doors and our of the public eye seems to be a hybrid of the whole health care and the Cadillac plans. The proponents claim that people are going bankrupt and we need to save them from this fate. So we are looking at spending an additional 2 trillion dollars for this health plan.
For the record I am 100% against any government involvement in providing health care insurance to anyone, this includes medicare and medicaid and it isn't because I am cold hearted and want anyone to die in the streets, I just think that the free market is a better steward of these institutions. The government should provide some oversight and guidelines to assure that there is equal access to all to buy insurance. They also want to cover illegal aliens (constitutionally it is required that anyone living here has equal access). They also want to cover abortions and sex change surgery. (HMMMM isn't that special?)

Since the government has already committed to medicare and medicaid and the people who have paid into the system are entitled to a return on their mandated investment, this system is a part of our future. And, since this administration and congress seem posed to take control of 16% of our economy and give us the big socialist Universal Health care plan.

My solution to this issue;
I would opine that the government should have a base program for all citizens of the USA, this would be catastrophic coverage only. This would not include preventive care or painting the house. Now if you would like whole health coverage, you can buy that upgrade for yourself and again the same with the Cadillac plans. The cost of health insurance reform would be far cheaper to tax-payers and more people would be saved from that pesky bankruptcy.

In December there is to be an international summit on "climate change" in which a treaty will be offered that will force industrialized nations to pay third world countries for the sin of global warming, this is a treaty the Dear Leader will gladly sign, he loved playing Robin Hood. The problem is that at the same time he is giving more money away that we will have to borrow against our children and grandchildren to pay, he is also cede's the US sovereignty in the process, this can not be allowed to happen. I believe any treaty signed by Dear Leader has to be ratified by congress, start now and let your elected representatives know that this is not acceptable and that "We the People" do not cede our independence based on unproven theories and "environmental justice".

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So they created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?" So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one Year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost."

So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly let it sink in. Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency ... the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977. TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND, NOW, ITS 2009 -- 32 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND, LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

I sit here bewildered and confused today after observing your actions. So, I have a few questions that I would love to have answered.

Why was it necessary to spend more than an hour of tax-payer time to scold a congressman that had already apologized twice?

Why are we spending hundreds of millions of dollars on mice, horses and other wild animals to have nice homes when millions of Americans are losing theirs?

Why are you allowing the President to appoint three dozen Czars, mostly with no oversight without raising holy hell?

Why are the unions getting more control over companies like GM when the shareholders are losing their investments?

Why is SEIU helping to write any legislation, isn't that your job?

Why did the "Apollo Alliance" write the stimulus bill?

If you are not writing the bills and you are not reading the bills, how do you know what is in the bills?

If you are not reading or writing the bills, do we really need you to vote on them?

Why hasn't EVERY member of congress demanded a full audit and investigation of ACORN and their affiliates?

What is it that ACORN does that makes them worthy of up to 8.5 BILLION dollars of funds borrowed on the backs of my children?

If the president surrounds himself with radicals, and, has a lifetime attraction to radicals, why shouldn't he be considered a radical?

If anyone that disagrees with the president is racist, as we have heard over and over again, why was everyone that disagreed with Bush a patriot?

How long does it take for the house ethics committee need to investigate and find that Charlie Rangel cheated on his taxes?

Speaking of tax cheats, why is it again that you have confirmed tax cheats one after the other to manage the money and policies of this nation? If they can't handle their money, why the hell are we trusting them with our money?

When are you going to read the US Constitution? When will you start following it?

September 8th - Dear Leader Indoctrination Day at School

In case you have a life and missed the news, Dear Leader is scheduled to give a speech on Tuesday the 8th of September. One of the reported goals is to ask your children to help support the presidents agenda and policies. If you support Dear Leader and his policies and agenda, this is a good and happy day for you. If like me you find everything that the administration and congress is doing is abhorrent bordering on criminal, then Tuesday will be a long and stressful day of either keeping your kids home with Obamaflu or going to school with them to defuse the propaganda that this administration loves to spew.

If you choose to allow your children to participate, you may want to sit through it with them or at the very least defuse the propaganda with some home schooling after school. Here is a suggested curriculum for the aftermath of propaganda ala Dear Leader;

It's the obligation of an American citizen to question, challenge, be suspicious of government.

Question: Why were the Founders fearful of government?

Question: In what ways did they insure limits on government power?

Question: What are the enumerated powers of the federal government?

Question: In what ways did FDR violate the Constitution?

Question: In what ways is BHO, the new FDR, attempting to circumvent the Constitution?

Question: What can you do as an American citizen to make certain your government remains true to the Constitution?

Question: Why is an educated populace important to a free society?

Questions: Why did the Founders encourage public schools, to teach classes on of the Constitution?"

Question: What elements of our government today might be causing our Founders to turn in their graves?

Democrats, realizing the success of the President’s “Cash For Clunkers” rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care Plan.

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Refd are expected to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named….

“CASH FOR CODGERS” And It Works Like This…

Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription dependent ‘codgers’ will garner the highest amounts.

Special “Bonuses” will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for ‘codgers’ who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussels sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All ‘codgers’ will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will ensure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other ‘codgers’ in repair.

Last week that White House claimed no knowledge of how the spam mail was being sent, this week, they admit to using out tax dollars to span us on an entitlement program that a majority of Americans don't want. Now, let's give the benefit of the doubt that the left hand doesn't know what the other left hand is doing, wouldn't that be another good example of the government NOT being qualified to run this countries health care?

I am so tired of all the socialist America hating legislation that is being pushed by the far-left leaning congress that I give up - PASS IT ALL, we the voters will sort it out. Currently we have Cap and Trade which will cost 2.5 million jobs a year and it will not control any carbon emissions or change the perceived climate change. Health Care reform which will cost 5 million jobs if passed and if similar models are correct won't reform health care, it will only make it harder to get health care and if you are too old or have an "unhealthy" lifestyle, you may be refused life saving health care all together. Barney "Brothel" Frank wants to pass legislation that will limit executive pay for those on wall street, he thinks that incentive-based pay is not good for the economy. All this is from the congress that has the lowest approval rating in history and still gave themselves a raise this year.

Ask your rep about the 700 million dollars for Wild Horse birth control. or the 3.4 million for a turtle tunnel or 30 million for rats in San Francisco, and the 80 million that ended up being given to art houses in San Francisco to show Gay Horror Porn and "Pervert Dance Reviews" I am sure there are better things to spend our tax-dollars on than that.

Yep - I think the demorats should pass all the bad - America hating legislation that they can think of - We the voters will have the final say on election day. Every member of the house of representin' and a third of the senate are up for our votes in November 2010, we should make them aware of the fact that WE get to make the final decision on their policies and WE will make certain that all these communist loving - America Hating congressmen are back in the private sector in January 2011.

most of the legislation won't take effect until after 2011 session starts and we should make sure we elect those that will be in a majority and able to repeal these atrocities.

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'

The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'

The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'

The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves..

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
